About Patriot Bank

Among the Largest Independent Banks in Texas

With a heritage dating back to 1883, Patriot Bank is the product of an indomitable Texas entrepreneurial spirit.  Led by Chairman W. Don Ellis and a strong investor group, Patriot Bank is headquartered in Houston with a footprint that encompasses two of the most dynamic markets in the nation.  Patriot Bank is the 17th largest bank based in Houston, and the 53rd largest bank in Texas.

Regional Bank with nine Houston & Dallas Area locations

Patriot Bank traces its roots to First State Bank in Honey Grove, Texas. In January 2005, an investor group led by our Chairman acquired the bank, a Texas state-chartered banking association which was granted its bank charter in 1883. After the acquisition, First State Bank’s name was changed to Patriot Bank. Shortly thereafter, Patriot’s main office was relocated to Houston, Texas. Following a corporate restructuring, Patriot Bank became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Patriot Bancshares, Inc. Patriot has acquired two additional banks since its formation. We also acquired North Street Mortgage, Inc., dba Principal Mortgage Group, which was then renamed Patriot Bank Mortgage, Inc. In addition to acquiring banks and the mortgage company, Patriot Bank has expanded its presence with the opening of new branches. We currently have six branches in the greater Houston area, two branches in Dallas-Fort Worth, and one branch in Fannin County.

Our Beliefs

Created around a culture of service, Patriot Bank delivers a banking relationship that values the customer in a way that is uncommon today.  The result is a banking experience that combines big bank conveniences with personal attention.  Patriot provides a full array of deposit and lending services to business and personal banking customers. Our tagline “The Power of Freedom” represents the tangible service goals we offer – responsiveness, accessibility, and innovation. We will never forget our dream for Patriot Bank and the hard work required to make it happen. It’s why we believe that banking is as much about “hopes and dreams” as it is “dollars and cents.”
